Autumn Class' Rainforest Experience - 11 February 2010

The parents of Autumn Class braved the tropical rain and crocodiles for a visit to Autumn Class' Rainforest. The children presented an interesting news programme on protecting the rainforest and performed an authentic rain music composition using the instruments that they made for their home-learning. Following the performance, the children taught their parents to play their instruments and showed their parents the work that they had done.

Autumn Class trek into the Rainforest - 04 February 2010

On Thursday, Autumn Class had a trek in to the hot humid rainforest. They had a great time and the highlight of the visit was the crocodile and stingray. They learnt about the amazing adaptations of the rainforest and recognised that rainforest animals are in threat of extinction.

Family Writing Project- the book! - 02 February 2010

Have a look at the great work that our pupils and their families did during the recent lottery Funded writing workshop. Many thanks to Stuart and Claudia for compiling all the work in such a fantastic booklet. Booklets may be purchased @ £3 and the money received will be used to purchase 'Big Write' resources.

Autumn Class Perform at the Clere - 26 January 2010

On Tuesday, the children in Autumn Class took part in an African dance workshop. Their Dance coach, Ben, taught them an impressive routine using a mixture of his choreography and some of the children's own ideas. In the evening they performed their African dance at the Clere School. They were absolutely brilliant and the parents and staff were all very proud of them.

Hail Caesar-Roman Invasion! - 14 December 2009

Monday afternoon saw the invasion of Hurstbourne Tarrant by a legion of hungry soldiers and a group of excellent Roman entertainers. The afternoon began with a banquet of stuffed dormice and seafish, followed by dancing, music recitals and marching. The afternoon concluded with a battle on the parish field. Happily, there were no casualties!

A successful Family writing Project - 03 December 2009

The Family Writing Project came to an end today, after four exciting sessions led my Claudia and Stuart from the Southampton Scrapstore. Everyone is looking forward to reading the published work in the New Year.

Autumn Class blast the roof off! - 03 December 2009

Autumn Class have been learning the cornet this term as part of Hampshire Music Service's 'Listen to Me' programme. They performed an excellent concert to their parents. Led by their cornet teacher, Mrs shepherd, the children and their class teacher played a number of exciting pieces.

Pyjama Day raises £100 - 20 November 2009

Today, all the children arrived at school in their best pyjamas, slippers and dressing gowns. The children wanted to wear pyjamas (non-uniform)to raise money for mosquito nets in Uganda.

Preparing for Battle - 17 November 2009

Today the children in Autumn class found out all about the Roman Army and Roman Armour. The children had to use their thinking skills to work out why the Roman soldiers dressed as they did.

Family Writing Project - 12 November 2009

Children and parents have been busy working on a family writing project funded by the Lottery Fund and delivered by Stuart and Claudia from the Southampton Scrap Store. This a four week project that will look at drama, art and writing and it is intended that the final outcome will be a published book.

Dig! Dig! Dig! - 10 November 2009

Autumn class had an exciting morning, learning how to be an archaeologist. They found out about different types of Roman pottery and they 'excavated' some genuine Roman pottery from carefully prepared trays. They were also able to sketch and classify their finds.

Dance! Dance! Dance! - 05 November 2009

On Thursday, the Year 6 and Year 4 children had a great time learning a contemporary dance. The dance teacher, Olivia, was fantastic and the children were really motivated. In the evening, the children performed an inspiring dance to their parents and even the parents learnt a brief routine from the 'Master of Dance', Junior Jones.

Autumn Class invade Fishbourne Roman Palace - 04 November 2009

Autumn Class had an interesting day at Fishbourne Roman Palace. They looked at the artefacts in the museum and they were particularly impressed with the skeleton. They enjoyed the Roman workshop where they learnt about Roman writing, building, cooking, games, spinning and clothing. They were fascinated by the wonderful mosaics and they enjoyed visiting the Roman garden.

Winter class arrives at Windmill Hill on their residential. - 19 October 2009

Winter class are enjoying a week of activites at the PGL centre at Windmill Hill. So far they've been on the Zip Wire, taken part in Archery and built rafts. Floating the rafts turned out to be a very wet but fun experience!

WANTED! - wellies for the infants - 01 October 2009

The children in Spring and Summer Class are very lucky to have access to the school garden every day.  So that it can continue to be used throughout the Autumn and Winter we would appreciate it if you could see if you have wellies suitable for children aged 4-7 at home that you no longer want or need.  If so, please bring them in and deliver to Mrs Charnock where we can find them a new home! 

Spring and Summer Class Visit the Post Office - 29th September 2009 - 01 October 2009

On 29th September some children from Spring and Summer Classes went to visit Hurstbourne Tarrant Post Office.  We took some questions to ask the post lady and had a lovely walk there and back.

Spring and Summer Class Parent Workshop - 24th September 2009 - 01 October 2009

Thank you to all the parents who came to last week's workshop. We hope that you found it informative and that it answered any questions you had about how your children spend their day!
